First off you are asking all wrong.

How do I hack "an"(you mean "a")homepage which is placed on a private server.

Homepage should be webpage
placed should be stored
and by hack you mean gain write privillages too.

Look it is not like me to pick on a new guy like this so I am going to help you out a bit. First off black hat hacking is not something I will help you with. There is such a thing as hacking to learn and not to make a statement or be cool.

Do it to learn and I will help. Show off and piss off. Black hat is purely bad. Like destroying a site, or viruses that sort of garbage.

Wana learn some stuff I can help some.

Read up and understand all of the above like you understand your ABC's. Then you will be ready to hack a server. Not being mean, but you are not there, and will not be there for at least a year or 2 judging the way you worded your question.

If you want to learn, and you would like respect around here start learning stuff you can sort of talk about now.

Now you are saying, WTF would I want to learn Linux. I want to hack. WELLLLLLL.... Linux is basicaly Unix, Unix is the operationg system of about 80% of the internet. That number counts servers, Routers, etc etc etc. Chances are the server you are intrested in is running some flavor of Unix. Linux happenes to be very cheap or free. Unix is highly expensive. So learn Linux and you pretty much learn Unix.

I belive Linux and the BSD's are based off system IV where as true UNIX is system V. Might want to read up on Unix history also. There you will see a tie between hackers and phreakers and Ma Bell.

You HAVE to learn telnet if you ever want to gain remote access to any box.

Now telnet is big and vast, the commands will differ depending on

1.) What type of OS you are connected to
2.) What server is on that OS
3.) What application on that server you are messing with.

If you want to learn A LOT you are on the right site. But people will let you know when something if not right. Keep a thick skin and be willing to work and you will learn a [censored] load.

"Hacking Web Programs Exposed" is a book I saw in Walden Books at the mall last week. Among other titles were "A Complete H@cker's Handbook: 1st and 2nd Edition" (Aimed towards newbs) and "Web Hacking." They probably suck some [censored] though. Just thought I'd share.

It is not, and prolly never will be, possible for YOU to hack a homepage placed on a private server. For the portion of the human population who is willing to read and learn a thing or two it is possible, but you should just give up now and go take up stamp collecting or get a pet rock. I'm thinking those are more your speed.

Any time you connect to someone's server without permission it is illeagle. You don't even realise I answered your question. It is ike this.

If hacking into a server were compared to breaking into a musem to steal a painting, You would not be wearing black..

If you broke into a server now that is what it would be like.

Geocities is still a private server. It isn't like they give you telnet access, or even the ability to write scripts there, Do you have SMTP, or POP3 access? You sure don't. They do.

When you get an account on Geo cities or most other free hosters you are simpley playing on a script. You write you HTML, it looks through it to make sure you are a good little boy, then if all passes.... It saves it.

I seriously doubt each site even has their own directory. Instead your code is probably stored in a database right next to some chick doing a site on backstreet boys. It is all fake. Inpressive on a coding scale, but fake all the same.

You are never actualy on thier server. You are just playing with the pages ther server is sending you. If you truely had server access, the adds on a plain HTML page could be taken out without some tricky coding.

lol Ya i been in chapters they do have a [censored] laod of computer books, But i meant in the Library. Our biggest library only has books on Computer Programing thats about it = )
Plus those bugs in chapters are a shitload of money 80-100 dollors = ). Plus i really dont think they have a book about Hacking Webpages. Mabye Security on Webpages or something like that
