i used to use this command alot, but forgot it - the dos command to get an ip from a direct connection, and i havent been abel to find it in google i say this because im sure you will tell me to go there

netstat -an

i thought it was longer than that? i remember something thats likea full line?

...the 'long' lines must have been what they told you when u didnt give a valid parameter for netstat ...
eg : u write some thing like this :

>netstat -asdadas

and then it gives the syntax ....(how,what the parameters are)

'could' be that .

-n

i dont think that was it.....oh well forget it, ill look a little bit more and if i dont find it ill just use^

what about >ping (computor name), that gives you the ip no. or is this completly wrong?
Oh and a question: when I do >netstat -n, it comes up with all the usual stuff but what does it mean by STATE established and CLOSE_WAIT?

/me gets sick of postings dos command /? output

-o comes in helpful with suspicous activity

tracert? or traceroute. By hops I'm thinking you mean trace routing over gateway to client connections, router to router, company to company from you to a said ip. Maybe, maybe not.
