ha ha ha ha ha ha I have never heard of login into ms-dos.

Okay guy,

first what version of windows are we talking about?

Second if you have a box running ms-dos 6.0 and below what are you trying to do.

Okay I had to try this,

I typed login into ms-dos(well into the cmd line in win2k)

I get

c:\Path\to\profile>login

Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Server

c:\Path\to\profile>

You need to either Upgrade to XP or Downgrade to 98. M$ has even publicly stated that ME was a total mistake.

It looks like you're trying to exploit Window$ file sharing; note that the IP must have open shares and i don't believe they can be accessed liek that through dos.

ok ty i knew it had to do with the comp.

Don't get 98 or XP, get 2000. It has security (unlike 98) and it works (unlike XP) wink

?? I'm running Windows XP SP1 right now; works a hell of a lot better than my 2000 pro install wink

i dont exactly know what you say too

don't like postin in ancient topics but since this guy already brought it, and nobody really answered it, here it goes.

Basically the "login" command in the command prompt executes the Login.cmd file which is in the system32 folder. Since MS got rid of the GUI telnet client (windows 98), this is how your supposed to use it now. But you can edit the Login.cmd file to execute any telnet client you want. Also you can change the banner it display and other stuff. Open login.cmd in Notepad and play around with it.
