Why don't you just use lilo like a normal person?

I know older windows versions have a problem if their bootloaders are after the first 1024 cylenders on the HD. So your windows partition must be first inorder for it to work. How did you instal this dual boot system? What did you use to partition the disk? what flavor of nix are you running? Always try to give as much technical data as you can when you have a problem to get the quickest and best help or else your answers will be as vague as your questions.

heh, not often I get to correct you sci.... Allways read before you correct. He had winblows on first then install Linux. Check it out guy...
This is the easy quick way for me to help you

go into DOS in windows.

fdisk /mbr

this will wipe you Master boot record clean and cause you to boot up into windows.

Next slap you install disk 1 back into the cd ROM.

reboot. You should come into the install stuff again. It will take 30 min tops. Make sure this time you use LILO instead of grub. I have never gotten GRUB to work on Win ME.

What flavor of Linux are you using ie Mandrake, Redhat, slackware,? What version number ist it. And last how did you set up your partitions.

I guess I should of got more info from him before I took a stab in the dark at an answer. Should of been more specific as in: "I know..one possible reason could be...". And by the way, you can call me "sin" like everyone else does learner.
