David J Seeley, the lawyer of Marlon Brando, has confirmed reports that the screen legend Marlon Brando has died in a Los Angeles hospital, he was 80 years old.
The actor, who had been in over 40 films and had won 2 Oscars for "Best Actor", had been ill for some time. Saying that Brando "was a very private man", his lawyer said the cause of death isn't being made public. The funeral will also be private.
British film-maker Michael Winner, who directed Brando in 1972 in The Nightcomers, said: "I've no doubt he was the most admired screen actor ever. Marlon was the most marvellous, principled,... sincere and above all witty, amusing and loyal friend."
