Three men died trying to rescue a mobile phone from an open-pit latrine in Nairobi. The phone's owner dropped her phone down the pit during a conversation, and offered 1,000 shillings (equivalent to 3 weeks wages) to anyone who could recover it.

A 30 year old radio technician tried first, but did not return. His friend attempted to rescue him, but slipped & fell into the murky depths. Finally a third man was rendered unconscious trying to rescue the first 2 men. He died on route to hospital.

Police apparently stopped a fourth man's attempted rescue, and the search was abandoned.

Yea right, you wouldn't say so if you were ever in Kenya.. most of the people there would do anything for a piece of bred and a cup of milk. People there are starving, people are very poor in that place. That's why they didn't even think twice trying to recover a [censored] cell phone...

I think Bono from U2 donated around 1 milion $ for these people but still everyday people die there.. it's so bad.
