Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, has threatened that the sanctions which have been proposed by nine states not involved in the settlement with the federal government would force Microsoft to remove the Windows operating system from the market.

"I actually think we would need to withdraw the Windows product from the marketplace. That...would be the only way I understand to comply with the proposal as put forward by the non-settling states," he told the court.

The sanctions in question involve forcing Microsoft to provide an operating system which can be configured without any of the company's middleware at all, a task that Ballmer says is impossible without breaking Windows.

would they really take windows off the marke? i assume this is just a threat to get things to go their way, whats your opinion?

its just a threat, windows is bill gates' largest scam. if they did take it off the market it'd be "off" for 3 years or so until they came out with windows 2005 or some ****.
they should make Windows Open source so that we can all look at the ****ty code, laugh at it, and tell them to make it a big secret out of it again laugh
nah if they did that it'd become secure by ****ers who like it :x
not that it will happen, but "taking windows off the market"... ummm the problem being?.... wink
