SCO to Sue One Large Linux Using Company - 11/22/03 12:49 PM

The SCO Group plans to sue a major corporation which uses Linux in the next 90 days. SCO is currently suing IBM because SCO claims parts of its licensed Unix code are in the Linux software that IBM uses.

This latest threat shows that the SCO Group is going to fight a tough battle against those who say Linux users do not have to pay royalties to SCO. SCO has asked 1,500 companies to pay it licensing fees and a few have complied.

SCO says it may also sue Novell now that Novell bought Germany-based SuSE Linux. SCO is increasing how much it pays the Boies Schiller & Flexner law firm. Many Linux developers and users say SCO has not shown that Linux infringes on SCO's copyrights.
