Duke University in North Carolina plans on giving out free Apple iPods to its 1,650 new students who will be starting at the University mid-August. The iPods will be used to store class content.
Students will also have access to a website - that is similar to Apple's iTunes - where they can access things like audio books for their courses and recorded lectures. Music will also be able to be purchased there.
The university's senior academic officer said: "This iPod pilot program is an exciting new component of Duke's strategic plan, which seeks to use information technology in innovative ways within the classroom and across the campus."
