Disposable Digital Cameras Hit the Market - 08/20/04 11:30 PM
US pharmacy chain CVS will begin selling Pure Digital this Monday. Pure Digital is a disposable digital camera which will retail for $19.99. As with traditional digital cameras, it allows users to delete shots they don't like.
Longs Drugs and Disney World will sell the units later in 2004. A preview screen is on the digital camera to allow people to choose what shots they want to keep. Once the photos are processed, users get pictures and a free picture CD.
Kodak has advertised a disposable camera called Plus Digital but it does not offer a preview screen. Instead it bundles a picture CD inside of the camera. Digital cameras of all types, however, face stiff competition from camera phones.
