I saw the previews for this game like 3 yrs ago. It seemed pretty badass, it reminded me of Tribes at that time, yet bigger. Its like any game these days that makes use of the .v12 engine (not a car engine!)...

Ok just lil side note .v12 is what made Torque engine (its for a lot of garage games, its not that much $ for an engine), BF1942, and Tribes 2. They all used the .v12 for a basic engine then later coded things differently.

Back to Planetside... It has all those goodies of tanks, hover crafts, apc like things. It also has a great looking engine (I think they designed it themselves). But what they say is

"Take part in a fully persistent territorial war for the control of continents involving thousands of players on each world"

They always talked about how the planet will be huge and this will be a massive multiplayer game... Question is how? What makes it massive is it like a big world with like 64 players or have like 164 players etc... If gonna do that, a lot of companies host the server (not peer to peer), that often means you pay like $10 a month.

Anyway it looks badass, you do need a machine to run it. At leat 1 Ghz, 256 ram, 32mb vid card (cutting close for me 1.13ghz).

Yes this is long but vacation was boring... Enjoy

LOL we spoke about beta testing this before. Arg its so gay, I wasn't going to like steal their secrets, they should let people who are in game development industries to test other games for fun and free. So crime you think the sys reqs are fair? Or you need a better machine?

So you got to play it, what do you like about it... What makes this better then Tribes 2 or BF1942. Saddly I am not permitted to sign up beta testing, yet sure love to hear what you think of it.

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard it's kickass. My friend Mark was telling me about using the sniper rifle, "If you want to get a kill with the sniper rifle, they have to be standing completely still, go on vacation so you have time for your crosshairs to tighten up which takes five years, then shoot them and wait again because that's how many it takes- two."

I HATE FILEPLANET! LOL
Posted By: Cold Sunn Re: PlanetSide - 05/10/03 04:15 AM
Other names for fileplanet: shitplanet, lineplanet, gayplanet, faggotplanet, lameplanet, adplanet, ads-on-pages-between-content-pages-so-it-takes-twice-as-long-to-get-where-you-wantplanet, assfuckplanet, comcastplanet (cause comcast sucks too). If I have to, I will use fileplanet to find the name of the file to download, then find it somewhere else. I never download from fileplanet.

Fileplanet and gamespy are gay. I can't wait til Steam gets into a full version and the servers work fine. Steam looks good so far, but I can't use any of it's features worth using since the servers aren't always working or have slots open.

"Important Information: The PlanetSide Beta is available to all FilePlanet Users. You will receive a unique key for the beta from FilePlanet during the installation of the beta."

That was all done before, it was a case of netiher, the fact that the key was on a website that poped up automatically when it installs and when that was going on I was sleeping, so missed it. Fileplanet staff gave it to me. Anway back on topic about how people think it will be? Is your $12.99 a mo worth to play it?

Its pretty damn cool. Since the teams are so [censored] huge you can build squads or join one. YOu communicate and follow a leader and have a list of those in your squad. SO it feels very squad based at points. The map is very big (duh its massive multiplayer). It takes awhile to get any good weapons because you can only get more stuff by more "points" you get such as kills and learnign things. It runs great on my laptop

1.13
512 ram
32 mb GeForce 2go
Cable internet

Now I would say its well worth buying, because it is but I really wouldn't want to empy out that much money to buy and then pay for a subscription to play online :+(
