What is the point of this? - UGN Security Forum

My windows is infected with something. When I search something in google the results open up a spam/spyware like site instead.
I tried using a different browser and search engine and the same thing happens.
Other than to be completely annoying, what other purpose does it serve? I mean wtf is wrong with these people.

I ran spybot, AVG and ad-aware and it just seems to miss whatever is causing it.
My computer is slowed down and seemingly so is my internet connection, not to mention when I turn on the pc it sometimes will freeze at the user log in window.

Any ideas on what I should do next?
I was thinking maybe one of you could look at my hijackthis log?

I think it has something to do with a program called fraudload.
Funny enough a site recommended I turn off system restore to get rid of it. Funny because I recently said system restore is the [censored]. *points finger at everyone*

Boot in safemode.
Run spybot.
Check startup entries in registry (hkeylocal and current user)

I recommend the program 'Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware', and 'security task manager'.

If you are ever having redirecting issues with Google or any search engine.

The hardest part of my experience was trying to access sites that allowed using these programs since usually whatever the infection was would stop you from opening the page.

Hopefully that is the end of it and I haven't spoken too soon.

Usually AdAware and Spybot would be capable of the same thing in safe mode; surprised they didn't cover this threat...
