So it has come to my attention that i get the BSOD followed by a restart every time I try to open up my C drive or E drive (partition of C).

This is why I started to use shortcuts, as a way around it (which made its own unique problem).
So I have no idea why this is happening but I intend to find out and vent here. Hopefully with something substantial.

I also have 2 virus on my pc which keep coming back.
One makes hidding my hidden folders/files permanent. The other I haven't figured out yet. Malwarebytes pics them up and fixes them but they re-occur.

Still the BSOD when trying to access the drives (only happens when tried via My computer) is annoying.
Install Avast Antivirus and Spybot Search and Destroy and see if it clears up :P
You probably have some hidden files on the root of each partition placed there by some kind of virus.

Go to Tools, Folder Options, View and check "Show hidden files or folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

After that use Windows Explorer (or any other file manager like Total Commander) to acces your partitions and delete the infected files. You'll probably see at least an autorun.inf which is executed when you access your partitions through my computer and causes the blue screen (if you read it , it probably executes some *.bat file that should also be there).

Make sure you don't delete any legit files that are actually needed.

For the protection I recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. It may require some work to set up and configure but IMHO it's really good and has everything you need.

dg.
Followed Dg advice:

Found that the autorun.inf did this open=gi2ky.exe. Looked it up on google and it is a naughty file.

Also found qphdin.com which came up as a threat. Both found using AVG.
Both found in both Partitions

All removed.

Problem solved.

Thanks DG.

(more searches were done on google for the best way to remove them i.e removal tools, hjt etc.
