At school my firewall / NAT blocks outbound ports except for 80, and I want to do more than just browse web pages. Sometimes I want to chat on irc or something, maybe ssh to my server at home and it all times out when I try to connect.

They have a linux thinclient (redhat 9 I believe) server set up that we can connect to via VNC and I tried logging into that and then trying ssh, irc, etc and still no go....

Any ideas or comments?

Look up HTTP Tunnelling...

Change your ssh port at home to 80...

If you want a GUI then look up XoverSSH...

Go to unauthorised sites: install a proxy at home
Go to IRC: setup SSH to listen on port 80 and use a text based client on the server.

pretty much, just make the listening port to what you want to do "80"
