So what virus scanner do you use on your linux box? I got a lot, I use f-prot sometimes.

Personally, I don't use any. Why? because I find them unnecessary in the world of linux and on my box. The last real virus threat I remember was in january, dealing with the RST.b virus and that wasn't even that big of threat. So I need not worry. Although it would be a good idea to use some sort of virus scanner software if you're running some kinda network, with webservers, or running a site like, let's say, sourceforge. Where the viruses could spread more rapidly due the fact that they don't scan the binaries that they have for download, or so I've heard. I can see how that would benefit. But other than that, I don't use any virus scanner

----EDIT----

By the way, if you're just that paranoid, I found a decent article on anti-virus software for linux, here:

Being paranoid is nature by some... As for me, no need to explain me... I'm not some regular fan, I got networks, companies to deal with, and fun places I hang and are staff for example the wonderful UGN. Who else out there, lez hear your feeling. What's in your box? (if not, then why)

I kinda use linux as my virus scanner. I had a virus going through my mp3s But since i was downloadinf the to windows and backing them up to linux once i sent them to linux all the infected files seprated and i just deleted the [censored].
heres the source that seperated during the transfer:
web page
But really how many linux viruses are there out there? 50? 100? its so hard to spread a linux virus because most people at least glance at the source of the code being run.

virii aren't a very big problem with linux. Why? because most of the people who write virii, write them for windows just to infect the most people. But there are a few for linux, but nothing major recently. Only times when I see people get virii, is when they don't look at some source they compile, and then run it without looking.

To keep my ports clear, and make sure I ONLY run what needs to be run, I use lsof (list open files) there is an option (i forget what it is...thats what google is for) which will tell you all your ports which are open, and you can kill them off one by one by pid.

Works great for me.
