| Are bots allowed on the UGN
Security IRC Network? |
Where we do allow bots on our network, we first ask that you clear
your intentions and bot by our server staff before utilizing any
bots on the network. Additionally, we don't allow any
malicious bots (spam, abuse, nag, etc) on the network. |
| How can I be an IRCop? |
We generally reserve IRCop status for long-standing members of the
community as we're in essence "handing the keys" of all server
permissions and access over to a user. |
| Can I have a vHost? |
Custom vHosts are reserved for donators and server staff. |
| I have a problem... |
If you have any problems you can always come to #staff to talk with
our staffers. |
| Do I have to pay... |
We do not charge for the ability to register a nickname or channel,
nor do we charge for you to utilize our services. We will
accept donations however should you want a custom vHost. |
| Do you spy on my activities? |
We do not "spy" on any users activity. If there is suspicion
of illegal activities we will join your channel(s) until suspicions
are proven positive or not. |
| Do you have SSL Support on
your servers? |
Yes, several of our servers do infact have SSL capabilities through
self-signed certificates. The SSL ports can be found on the
server information page. |
| Do your channels have
special rules? |
Where we do own and maintain the network, many channels have more
strict rules than what we enforce. These rules are to be
enforced by the channel owners themselves however. |

When you create a new chat room and are opped in the room, just set
the channel +s (secret) or +p (private). |

have at once to UGN Security? |
We allow a maximum of 5 connections at once from any IP Address.
This is to help thwart flooding and menacing users. |
| I have been banned from a
channel! |
Channel owners can choose, at anytime, to ban users that don't
follow the rules, or that they just don't like. This is their
right as the channel owners. |
| I have been banned from a
server! |
We work at a "staff level authority" junction, this means that we
leave rule enforcement to our staff to decide what route to take
with users. If you ended up banned, you likely weren't
following the IRC Network rules. |
| I go to the help channel but
get no help! |
Please note that our staff is made up of various volunteers from all
over the world, it is thus impossible to be online at every moment
of every day. We ask that you be patient and wait around until
someone is available to help you with your question. |
| I messaged an IRCop and got
banned! |
It is against the server rules to send messages to users without
their permission, this is enforced on an IRCop level due to the
amount of operators per user as it causes flooding towards the
staffers. |
| Can you op me? |
As a rule of thumb, we do not op people in channels that are not our
own, this is due to the fact that if the channel is yours you should
be able to identify to a nickname associated with the channel's
ownership to maintain your own access. |
