AFP (Agence France Presse) is suing Google for alleged copyright violations pertaining to AFP news stories being posted on the Google News website without permission. AFP also states that cease and desist requests to Google have been ignored.

AFP is seeking 17.5 million dollars in damages as well as court order banning the use of AFP copyrighted materials on the Google News website. AFP is reportedly a subscription news service and it's content is not provided for free.

The lawsuit states that, "Without AFP's authorization, defendant is continuously and willfully reproducing and publicly displaying AFP's photographs, headlines and story leads on its Google News Web pages."
