Video game makers will challenge California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in court over a new California law banning the sale of violent video games to children. He signed the bill into law last week but it faces stiff challenges.
The Entertainment Software Association “intends to file a lawsuit to strike this law down and we are confident that we will prevail,” said the association president. Federal courts have ruled against similar legislation in other states.
“The certainly of a constitutional challenge makes this a hollow gesture,” said Jeff Brown, spokesman for giant video game maker Electronic Arts Inc. The law bans the sale and rental to minors of games that show extremely violent or sexual content. Source
