Playboy Enterprises Inc. CEO Christie Hefner refuted questions about the spinning off of the magazine or web business. It was speculated that Playboy would divest faster growth businesses from slower ones like some other companies had done.

Hefner dismissed any idea of selling, spinning off or shutting down the Playboy magazine even though it has been losing money this year. "It's the promotional powerhouse for the brand," she said.

The magazine attracts customers to other aspects of the business, such as video offerings, television stations and other ventures. "It's an integral part of what we do," said the CEO.
