I have a question i recently built a new computer its running a 750Mhz or something like that and its amd well anyway when i start up the computer it says:
Checking System Memory: ok
Then it says system info then:
Checking NvRam:....

And it just sits there and won't move what should i do.
I've looked into other questions in this forum. I've also checked the net but nothing seemed useful enough and i cant find any books in my area about it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help that might come up. <img border="0" alt="[[censored]]" title="" src="graemlins/[censored].gif" />

Well it took me about .5 seconds to find the answer on google. From Webpedia.com:
Abbreviation of Non-Volatile Random Access Memory, a type of memory that retains its contents when power is turned off. One type of NVRAM is SRAM that is made non-volatile by connecting it to a constant power source such as a battery. Another type of NVRAM uses EEPROM chips to save its contents when power is turned off. In this case, NVRAM is composed of a combination of SRAM and EEPROM chips.

Microuser, if you double post again I'll ban you from this board for good. Spamming us with your [censored] is not the way to get answers.

now, having said that, wtf does a definition of NVRAM have to do with this deffy? That doesn't help :p

You need to be more specific MicroUser.

Well is it or isn't it? And what manufacturer at that. What type of mobo?

NVRAM is Non-Volatile RAM, which means that when you turn off your puter it won't be wiped like normal RAM. Chances are if it is posting (making that beep on startup) then something is configured wrong in the bios. You said you built this puter, double check the bios for any mistakes you could have made.

Google Definiton of nvram

Well, many poeple remove there STB TV-PCI cards and it seems to pass the NVRam checking part.

Check your IRQ Settings and see if there sharing with any other devices.

Try moving your cards into diffrent PCI slots and see if that works.
