I liked Icedog. He was knowlegeable. He didn't care for me too much I don't think. However, he did take time to help people. He taught me a bit on linux. [censored] he was the first person who posted an answer to my question here at UGN. Optix was good for stiring [censored] and getting people to post. However I think he went too far toward the end. When he was telling me what I should have on my site... YEA! Banning anyone who said peep, thank for the traffic man! Beard.. He seemed cool enough. Hardly knew him though. I rember someone found UGN's logo on another site and posted a link to it. (This was in the final days of the old UGN) Everyone was talking about trashing the site, leagal action etc etc etc.... Beard came in and said we were all too hard on him and it was kinda flatering. I rember that most about beard. I gained a bit of respect for him in that post. Gizzy, heh well he humbled me once. [censored] it, he was a royal dick and I couldn't do [censored] about it. However he also showed me he has a fair side and it all worked out. Now I rather like him and the way UGN is running. Seems a bit freeer these days. Curse, [censored] he still has mods on RRFN. SilentRage, still has global mods on RRFN I like the way it runs now better, But never dissliked the old UGN either. I voted for now since the site has improved and is growing. Given the events of the last year or 2 and new laws, I think Gizzy is doing an awsome job. Oh and Gizzy... I know how you did it.

I want the people who voted for the previous staff to speak up... Not I, Although Opitx Made Me Laugh A Few Times. Something About His "I AM GOD" Ego That Was Always Good For "How Pathetic" Laugh. If I Remember Correctly He Wasn't The Friendliest Of The Admins ... I Like How This UGN Is More Open With Fellow Members, No Matter How Ignorant They May Be (Not to Mention All The Nice Affiliations - Promodtech., N3tmask) The First Time I Came To UGN I Was Pretty Newbie-ish. I Actually Found The Link To This Site For The First Time At happyhacker.org When I Was Getting Into Unix/Wargames And The Like More And More (Basically When I Got Sick Of How Windows Was Treating Me) I Was Here For The Last Couple Months Of The Old UGN, If Memory Serves. And Gizmo, I Think I Remember That Offer From Optix. I Remember A bunch Of [censored] Happening And Then One Day I Came Into The Board, Tried Logging in And It Said User Doesn't Exist, And I Had To Re-Register. Ah ... It's All Comming Back To Me Now, It Must Have Been, What, Less Than A Year Ago? lol

this is so stupid. you guys make me reply now. everyone will vote for gizmo, but they totally miss the point. there is no "good" or "bad". you guys dont know how much work UGN was, and yes, people have a life outside of cyberspace (although gizmo seems to be here 24/7). right now, UGN didnt differ from what it was before Gizmo bought it. oh wait, yes it is. now besides all the dumb newbie questions i also see [censored] like "buy tickets for the UGN gathering" and "fund raiser". is it just me or can you say "sell-out"? hell yeh i know it costs alot to run a webpage along with server etc., but before that, UGN was free. people who actually knew what they were doing did everything to bring you further. We participated in wargames. We wrote exploitz. We passed around scan lists. We helped each other out. We did coding projects. And you know what, we still do. although guys like Nexus and frontline are gone, they still can come back after months and the respect is still there. you wont understand it, dont worry. none of you knew them anyway.
We also looked after the board, beard took alot of time to keep UGN 24/7 available. he knew what he was doing. this vote shows what pathetic way UGN goes, its like before, [censored]-kissing everywhere. the unix/linux section is dead, sorry to say kids, but thats what hacking is about. no, "hacking" a webpage isnt really hacking at all, sorry to burst your bubble. i doubt anyone could do it anyway here, or they get caught way too fast.
Gizmo: no, "hacking" yabb isnt really cool, it just shows that the newbies and users here can be impressed really quick. go and check bugtraq out people, lots of exploits going around there. he just uses other people works.
hacking can be done in several ways. coding (i think SR is the only one doing projects here), helping the open source community (like hkzknight who writes linus torvalds wrong? i guess not), testing the security of products and/or providing a place that the community needs. this is hacking.
well, but i judge again maybe too fast, i dont miss UGN, its still cool to come back and see whats going on, but its not the place to be when you reach a certain level of knowledge. oh yeh, btw gizmo, write at least my name correct.

UGN is free, it will always be free. We believe that if users like something they would like to help in keeping it running.
Hacking YaBB isn't elite, it was done as a joke, to show toat YaBB isn't as "secure" as everyone thinks that it is.
I'm not here 24/7, I view it when I get a chance, when I'm not working. And no, I didn't use other people exploits, its amazing how much you jump to conclusions, ask sum, what we've been using is what we developed.
The money raised for the UGN Gathering goes FOR the gathering, there is no proffit to be made since not too many users are planned to show up, its there to give users something to do to get to know the other users in real life.
I am more than abliged to share "scanned lists", perhaps you should wait on your conclusions until the new design is completed. Its a ways from being finnished, but when it is, there will be more user available sections.
Oh and ice, its nice to know that you still stop by, but we're still recovering from Optix trashing the majority of the affiliates. If Optix wouldn't have done what he did, we'd have been a lot larger a lot quicker.
As a note final note, I wanted you as staff, you were a great member to have around, I personally loved having you around.
Good day.

This is the only thing I felt like replying too. Except for Nexus. He's a good guy. Couldn't help me with my global hooks but I like him anyway. I remember frontline, but I don't know him very well. You're right, after a certain point of knowledge, things do get a bit more dull around here. I find myself involving myself in the off topic, general, and newbie forums less and less. Lots of people have moved on who I've enjoyed keeping company with. I don't have much desire to make new friends, except the few - precious few - who join IRC and show themselves knowledgeable. I'm not quite sure what keeps me around. Sense of duty? Loyalty? Maybe just out of habit? The precious few friends who ARE still here? Really can't say. Perhaps Mojo can identify with me. He's really impressed me about how he just doesn't leave. With all of his complaining he just never does. Despite my silent complaints, and some crap I've recieved in the past - I didn't leave either. You can't drag us away. When I made my post on "let those who voted for the previous staff speak up" I had a sneaky feeling you were still around. Glad to hear ya. I don't imagine you rejoining the IRC with how you and Giz dont' get along - but perhaps you can keep an eye on the *nix forum to answer questions. You said it is dead, but I think that was an exaggeration. It never was a very happening forum - kinda has it's moments. Shame Energy and RevNinjaSox hasn't been around lately. They shared their knowledge there. But I'm sure we could use somebody who has a bit more knowledge there rather than hkzKnight. *cough*
