Hmm, this might sound strange in this world but i don't use file sharing programs as kazaa or some irc channels, I do still buy music, last cd was wednesday last week, and how many cds i have bought since the enormous growth of file sharing programs, no idea actually.

Around 130. I use filesharing programs and have downloaded quite a few songs, but if I like the music enough I buy the album. Even if the artist gets barely any money from the album, the record company will keep them on since the records sell. I hate giving money to those assholes, but if it keeps musicians that I like making music . . .
Although about 1/3 of the CD's I bought were from independent labels, so that's fine with me.

Not so much after filesharing, but after the RIAA's behavior. Since then I have not bought a single CD and probably will not. Unless it is: Indepedent 2nd Hand (CD Warehouse) Internet Album ( www.prickmusic.com) I am going to give as little money as possible to those people that have treated the customers and consumers like total [censored] with a large lack of regard for them.

thank god for filesharing....remember back in the day when you'd hear their single on the radio, buy the cd and then everything BUT their single sucked? Yeah well that used to happen to me all the time. Now I just use the fact that I dislike the RIAA and that the artist makes no money to rationalize my theft, but so do the rest of you. But hopefully, stealing from them will actually put them out of business. Anyway, THIS disearves a bump and cold sunn: hit me up on aim sometime (Imperial TPF) we seem to have a lot in common

That article was a good read, but I disagree with him a little. He talks about economy, how we should spend less instead of more, like the only reason to spend more is your morals. But, he says the RIAA should make less, like it's their moral obligation. Not that those [censored] deserve any more money, I'm just saying. I think 1.40 is too low, but the price of CDs is too high. I know the artist gets very little of my cash when I buy their CD, but like someone said: at least it keeps em making music.
I do still buy CDs, but I also think the RIAA takes it in the [censored]. How about someone makes a program to save a save a short mp3 of someone saying "[censored] the RIAA" over and over again, as [censored] the RIAA0001.mp3? Let's say, 4000 times. Then, we put them in our shared directory and turn sharing on. Maybe it will attract their attention and piss them off and we'll all be sued....nevermind.

It costs pennies to make a CD, less than a cassette, actually. 18 dollars is [censored] highway robbery.

hmm, BS, I think you are referring to those tiny CD-R's? I believe Ghost and I were referencing the MiniDisc format. Check out www.minidisc.org or www.minidisct.com. As for CS, are you really determined to piss me off? Well, congratulations, you did! Listen bish, if the artist is dead do you think the record comapny sends the money to the family or something? I don't think so. If the group is disbanded, where does the money go from CD sales then, smart [censored]? Oh boy, I can spend 20 minutes downloading a CD and get near CD quality! What a waste of time! Listening to samples is much easier/faster. As BS said, when on a broadband connection, just go to a place like windowsmedia or launchcast and listen to the whole song.
