My goal is to get my Gamecube to dump its current game rom onto my PC's hard drive, and possibly get my gamecube to boot off my PCs hard drive. And since GC ROMs are so bloody massive it makes a lot more sense to use the GCs high speed port rather than its dinky little serial port, and since Im not certain of how fast the GCs high speed port really is I thought it would make more sense to use my PCs IEEE 1394 port (fire wire) rather than my USB 2.0 port, though if I did use my USB 2.0 port Id be just as lost, now will you help me!?

Game cubes use CDs right? why not just stick it in your CD-ROM and copy it onto your HD? As far as booting it from your PC HD, I've never even seen a gamecube before so I dont know all the options for it. I think your talking about playing the ROM image from your HD with out having a CD in the drive. It's not an easy task lets just say that.

The Gamecubes DVD hybrid discs are made so they wont work with a PC's optical drives, theyre written in a CAV format, which means the disc is read at a constantly angular velocity, though its possible to buy a drive that can read them, I dont have that kind of cash (Im a student). and Im up to the challenge of this, seeing as I have so much spare time on my hands,

Update!

Ok, my idea to create a fire wire adapter to attach to my Game Cube never got off the ground, however, all is not lost.
http://www.snsys.com/GameCube/SN-TDEV.htm

This company created an extremely expensive USB 2.0 adapter for a Game Cube, actually this company created a custom Game Cube altogether with double the RAM, not to mention the software also. Meaning dumping the ISOs of a game onto your computer is extremely easy, and even playing a game off your hard drive is possible. The only setback is that since this device doesnt use the Game Cubes high speed post, it only has a max read/write rate of 3MB/s or (24 Mbits/s). Not to mention this things hefty price tag ($1000 for the total package).
