The US Air Force gave $25,000 for a "Teleportation Physics Study" on how to beam up humans. Eric Davis, with PhD in astrophysics, worked on NASA robotic missions, reports a positive Chinese experiment by "gifted children" with insects and small objects.

However current technology would need 1 followed by 28 zeroes kilobytes to store data of one man, 13 billion years to access it, and 330 one-megaton thermonuclear bombs to dematerialize the body. The reconstruction of consciousness (soul, spirit) is unknown whether it could be done.

Air Force official said they are "not pursuing" it, but will continue research. Scientists express doubts and suspect it's just misleading enemies into funding impossible projects. A professor of physics and astronomy said the project is impractical.
