The head of the US space agency NASA has said that the agency's focus on the International Space Station and the shuttle program was a reflection of the agency losing its way. Griffin made the comments in an interview with USA Today.

Griffin said: "It is now commonly accepted that was not the right path. We are now trying to change the path while doing as little damage as we can." And of the ISS: "Had the decision been mine, we would not have built the space station..."

Under Griffin's leadership, the focus of the agency has been put firmly back on manned missions to the Moon. Earlier this month, NASA announced to have man walking on the Moon once more by 2018 (SN reported).
