Reporters without borders has revealed that Yahoo! Holdings, Hong Kong Ltd., provided information to the Chinese government that helped identify and convict Chinese journalist Shi Tao.

Shi had used Yahoo! to email details of a government memorandum that dealt with press freedoms in China. Shi was convicted of providing state secrets to foreigners and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Reporters without borders asked: "Does the fact that this corporation operates under Chinese law free it from all ethical considerations?" Yahoo! is yet to comment on the allegations.
