Cyber criminals are snaring new victims by creating fake Weblogs (Blogs) to lure people in. The bogus Blogs have malicious programmes imbedded in them, according to filtering company Websense. Websense said it had found hundreds of fake Blogs.
A Websense spokesman said: "These aren't the kind of blog websites that someone would stumble upon accidentally. The success of these attacks relies upon a certain level of social engineering to persuade the individual to click on the link."

The Blog creator programmes their Web log with keylogging software or a viral code and then sends a link through email or Instant Messaging programmes. The fake Blogs are not picked up by traditional security software.
