Police in the United Kingdom are calling for a new body to be set up to investigate child Internet pornography. The call comes on the back of new figures, which arrests regarding Internet porn have risen 400% over the last few years.

Police officers, charity workers and computer experts will work for the unit, which has been called the UK Internet Safety Centre a working title as the unit has not yet been established. The unit would run 24 hours a day.

Should the proposal be approved, individual, county police forces would also be freed up to tackle other crimes currently being neglected due to lack of manpower and resources.
