A 6 year old girl who was assumed to have died in 1997 during a house fire was recognised by her mother 6 years after the event. A lucky meeting between the two at a party led to the discovery after her mom noticed the girls distinct dimples.
It is believed that the fire was deliberately started by a relative of the childs father when she was just 10 days old so that another woman could snatch her without detection, with police believing that the infant had perished in the blaze.
DNA tests have been carried out which confirm that Delimar Vera is the biological daughter of Luz Cuevas and investigators have charged the abductor, Carolyn Correa, with 15 offences, including kidnapping, aggravated assault and arson.
