Doubts are surfacing over how much information officials will get from Saddam Hussein. When asked about WMDs today, Hussein said: "the U.S. dreamed them up itself to have a reason to go to war with us." Other officials in custody have been quiet too.

He said he didn't want UN inspectors invading their privacy in palaces if inspectors were given more authority. He denied knowing what happened to the US pilot who disappeared in the first Gulf War. Observers say this is typical rhetoric from him.

When the interview began, Saddam refused a drink of water because he said: "If I drink water I will have to go to the bathroom and how can I use the bathroom when my people are in bondage?" Officials will try to pry more to see if Saddam will talk.
