The newest version of Linux is expected to be released this month, and according to the man in charge of the software, Andrew Morton, it will be more reliable than previous versions of Linux.

Morton also said that the test version which is out now should be the last before Linux 2.6.0 is released on the market, "unless the wheels fall off in a serious manner."

Unlike Linux 2.4, 2.6 will be able to handle more powerful servers with several CPUs, something that Unix currently has a hold of. Linux is based on Unix, but has become more popular in that it can be run on Intel-based computers.
