Microsoft is offering a beta version of Windows Media Player 10 which the company says has an interface that is "simple, clean." The official release of Windows Media 10 will be later in 2004. A line of portable media players is coming too.

Microsoft's Portable Media Center software will enable the portable devices to function. The player will be able to access streaming services which people can subscribe to that don't charge them for each individual song.

Unlike iTunes, the Player will be able to access a variety of different companies which charge for individual downloads and stream. So far this beta version needs testing and feedback before the full version will be released.
