IBM will be building a supercomputer for military use.
The computer will be used for military simulation, weather forecast and other applications.

In a statement made by IBM the supercomputer will consist of many powerful computers connected together and will run on a UNIX platform modified by IBM named AIX.

The supercomputer will have the ability to process around 20 trillion mathematical operations per second surpassing the current fastest EARTH SIMULATOR in Japan.
IBM also said that the deal is valued at tens and thousands of dollars.

IBM leased UNIX(true unix) years ago from SCO(the frist one(Not the sco we know today))i think. From that they developed AIX. The base system was the original strand of UNIX that was developed in Bell Labs. Same as Solaris.
