Judge Brooke C. Wells has agreed with IBM's motion and now the SCO Group has 30 days to turn over "all source code and other material in Linux ... to which plaintiff (SCO) has rights." SCO also has to tell how IBM has infringed on these rights.

SCO says IBM stole a "million lines of code" that were added to Linux. In a reversal, the judge wants to know instances in which SCO distributed its UNIX code in manners that would cause the code to be added to Linux legally.

Linux advocates have long maintained that SCO added its UNIX code to Linux. SCO is suing so that Linux users like IBM have to pay royalties for using its copyrighted UNIX code. IBM is happy SCO now has to back up this claim.
