The Department of Homeland Security has launched a "cyber-alert" system to warn PC users of new worms and to assist them in preventing their PC's from becoming infected.

Amit Yoran, director of the DHS National Cyber Security Division, said: "We are focused on making the threats and recommended actions easier for all computer users to understand, prioritize, and act upon."

The system comes in the wake of the new virus "Mydoom", which was sent via 100 million e-mails during it's first 36 hours.
Registration for the government funded service is at www.us-cert.gov,, the Computer Emergency Readiness Team's website.
