The Chief Executive of id Software has crushed the hopes of Xbox gamers everywhere, announcing to Reuters that it was very unlikely that Doom 3 will be released for the console this year. The game has received rave reviews since its PC release.

id Software is still working on the console version of the game, and will continue their work until they can offer up the perfect version of the popular game. CEO Hollenshead said: "It's probably not going to come out this year."

He continued to say that "Back in May, we were kind of hoping we'd have a holiday launch. I'm not sure we're going to get there." In the first week of release, the PC version has sold 300,000 copies - a strong performance by any PC game.
