Gaming technology company GameSpy announced today that it has struck a deal with Microsoft Corp. for online games. The financial points of the deal were not revealed, but it is said to be a multi-year deal.

GameSpy will be providing its software technology to enable Microsoft to create and manage online communities to play on-line games. One of the games will be 'Halo', a hit on the Xbox video game console.

A statement from Microsoft said that they would be focusing on creating the games, while Gamespy "handles the mechanics of putting and keeping our games online."
