Sony has announced the their latest console, the PlayStation 3, will be launched across Europe, in Australia, New Zealand, Africa and in the Middle East on the 23rd of March this year.
The console was delayed in these countries, allegedly due to problems with the Blu-Ray technology the PS3 is equipped with. So far, the console's Japan shipments are at 2 million units, two weeks behind initial targets set by the company at release.
The more expensive, 60GB PS3 is the only console that will be released on the new markets, costing 599, 445 Pounds, AU$999.95, or NZ$1,199.95. The cheaper, lower-end 20GB console may be released later in the year, depending on demand.
