Don't do that. Learn to code in HTML because it gives you so much more control over the site!

Hrm. I personally think it would be better to learn html rather than use a program for several reasons, one being that it is a good start if you want to get into programming. Another is the control. Also, learning to use a complex program like Frontpage would almost be harder than learning html, and you don't get as much out of it as in writing it yourself. And from some of the stuff I have seen made by wysiwyg's, it looks like it could be optimized alot more than it is. I recommend downloading Dreamweaver for a 30 day trial from macromedia's website. (i am not supposed to say i support warez) Also, if you decide to go with html, download Note Tab Light from http://www.notetab.com. It is a nice text editor with some html features and a bunch of stuff they tell you about at the site. Good luck to you.

The Problem is that if you want a website to look good and professional is it really complicated if not impossible to do it with HTML. I mean come on, do you really think any webmaster still sits there with notepad open and types in codes for how long a colum should be an ****. Hell no, they all use Dreamwaver nowadays. btw, thats the best WYSIWYG prog you can get, jus download it on kazaa.

p.s. html is not really programming, it's even below scripting. If I was you i'd rather use dreamwaver to make a good looking website then learn VB script to make the website usefull, that's more like programming.

First, you should learn to make pages with html, just because that is how you will earn respect. However, when actually making a page you want others to view it is better to use a WYSIWYG editor. My fav is Netscape Composer, it comes free if you download the netscape browser. But don't forget to have a good understanding of what is going on behind the scenes because that will help you if you ever have a problem with your page. It will allow you to open the source and troubleshoot it easier than can be done on the WYSIWYG. Thats my advice.

ok they all have a point, u need to learn html really to understand what the WYSIWYG does not do right when you want it another way. sometimes those editors add stupid div or span tags that just get in the way.

html is not a programming language it is markup, and it sux, and it is easy - so learn html!

if u want to do the complex stuff that web pages all over the world do now like UGN, the learn about databases with php or asp or cgi(i would not bother learning cgi), now you are getting into programming.

but well for an easy one with everything put on your plate i suggest a program such as codecharge! its free, it does not do my job but it might do yours!

ohh yeah gizmo, pred is right frontpage does just suck the lamas *** ! and instead of dreamweaver i suggest strongly ultradev! and if ur still not happy shut up and use notepad thats how i started in the old days!!!

chau

ps. i am not queer unlike crime so nicely made it seem!

The use of "hacker" to mean "security breaker" is a confusion on the part of the mass media. We hackers refuse to recognize that meaning, and continue using the word to mean, "Someone who loves to program and enjoys being clever about it."

yeas sure and back when they invented HTML they sure had them wysiwyg editors....YEEEEEEP.....idiot..its those lame "editors" that deprive one of the full functionality of HTML...If something is "impossible" with HTML, then it cant be done with an editor either...yes it might be complex, but it still can be done with HTML. besides, if its that complex, its prolly not HTML at all..prolly php or something..

ROFLMAO, lookes like you know what you're speaking about (NOT!) Well Did you see 7 year ago that advanced websites as nowdays? No. It was all very basic nothing graphicly. So it wasn't that hard to create websites in an editor. Next time think before you post or STFU!

Learn HTML man. Christ there is a tut on this board. It is the easyest thing to learn. I think it took me 2 days. Plus it will help you when you start adding Java script and other elements to your site.

If I were you I would do this

Learn HTML
Learn CSS
Learn Java Script (Little more advanced)
Learn to use DHTML
Learn a little perl
Learn C

Get pro hosting

Learn XHTML
Learn XML
Learn Flash (whole different ball game but Java script can be used here)

So either start in the webdesign forum with the tut I posted or start here where I did.

Creating dynamic sites with a WYSIWYG (or whatever!) is close to impossible because of their inability to do coding stuff. Look at http://www.scallion.sp00fed.net! I coded it all by hand! No wysiwyg could do that. I usually go for vi on *nix or HTML-Kit on windows.

I would learn HTML first and use something like frontpage2k. Because if there is missing options in the fp or the program you use or somehing dont work out right then you can edit yourself. It makes It alot easier to use a program and still use html to fix it up and finish it up.
