Oh, and is there anyway to trace a person through a proxy while they are connected to you? Basically are there any dangers after you've gone through a proxy or are you for the most part anonymous? | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 61 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 61 | that all depends. proxies keep logs but those are deleted after a while. best thing to do is use proxies that are not in the states. so if someone sees the proxy IP an he wants to contact the administrator or the proxy he would first have to find a way to talk to him, different language etc. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 DollarDNS Owner | DollarDNS Owner Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 | yeah, an alternative is getting proxy software and install it at a school or library or something and use that to anonymize yourself with no fear of logs. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 13 Junior Member | OP Junior Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 13 | So is that how you make a shell account? | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 256 Likes: 1 UGN Security Staff | UGN Security Staff Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 256 Likes: 1 | Umm... To my knowledge Shell accounts have nothing to do with proxies.. But you could consider a proxy a router in a way... | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | Most open proxys log, and majority are not anonymous. There are many checkers and scanners, one will be created within themonth by us. It will use env variables to check the anonymity levels of proxys. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 61 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 61 | or you could do what I do and scan for unprotected cisco routers for a couple of weeks, find some, and jus use them to bounce ur connection. there are other routers out there that ship without an password and routers don't keep logs so no worries there. anyways, once you take one over you can change everything. I've caught at least one other person on this board usin a stolen cisco to bounce there connections, you know who you are | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | [22:46] *** You were killed by stats.dal.net (stats.dal.net (User has been banned from DALnet ([exp/comp] Serial line interfaces on Sprintlink routers should not be on IRC.) I can find tons of info on controlling the routers themselves. But how do you find them in the first place? If using a port scanner is there a particular port I scan for? | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | you use a port scanner. Generally a cisco router witll have port 23 and 79 open. It should say "User reqquest verification" or some ****.. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 | Isn't that a little vague....I mean they're just telnet and finger ports...
What about scanning for hosts with an open UDP 520 port. That's the port RIP uses to communicate so if it's open, there's a (FAT?) chance it's a router....
Dunno about cisco in particular though... | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | chances are, if your host has ip 23 and 79 open, and port 23 states "User Access Verification" it is going to end up being a cisco router. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 | really!! Wait, I just stumbled accross some telnet prompt like that. I have exaclty that (23 + 79 open) and that same prompt. I found another one which prompt the same way but says password: no login??? what kind of bogus system is that??
K if I cisco routers to deal with...any info?? (common default usernames'd be nice;-) | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | Generally no usernames, usually just a common password. Read my Cisco Router text on the kbase. | | |
