*shrug* Help one side or help the other side. Whether one side is good or bad... Help the hacker break into a network, or help the security guy protect his network... Or help some kid look at porn freely on the internet, or help the parent monitor the computer against such actions... I don't see a difference. I see two sides in a struggle with very personal, arguably legit, reasons to combat the other. Who are we to say which is the good side? Or who has the more sound reasons? We are biased, and we do not know what is best for every situation - much less so when we're not even involved in the situation and don't even know SECOND-HAND what the situation is. Freedom of knowledge is a two-sided coin. Freedom of knowledge is the only goal have. Abuse of knowledge is pretty much all I try to avoid when determining what help I should or should not give. IMHO spying on your husband's habits is destructive on a relationship which may be perfectly healthy otherwise - but spying on your children's habits may provide valuable info in molding their lives in healthy ways. I think you should get a system monitor possibly from www.iopus.com and installed it with the full knowledge of your husband. P.S. Consider this bit of strange advice. Sometimes it is best that if your husband DID cheat on you - that you never know about it. Mistakes can happen, and it would be a crying shame if you destroy an otherwise happy marriage by finding out. If you ask around you'll find that in several long-lasting happy marriages one or the other has cheated on their partner. It may still be a secret! Don't destroy the chance for such happiness.
