Hey i need some help with converting standard IPs (66.60.25.114) to hexidecimal or octal form... and can you enter an IP in hexidecimal or octal intothe browser thing? please help...

EDIT:Uhh sorry i double posted i dont know why the hell it did that

No your browser only understands ascii code. Since hexidecimal/octal consist of ascii characters it would have no way to differentiate between the two.

i recall hearing about this, i believe on either hackermind or in frequency. as well as reading about it in 2600.

that'll do it automatically. but i'm also sure there's an easier way.

something about direct conversion from the ip to decimal just by some multiplication or something. and yes, decimal can be entered into the browser.//

or linux calc..
just go view -> scientific mode

is that what u wanted?
66 is not 3636 its 42

the ascii character 6 that you type into your browser = hex 36 = binary 0011 0110

the decimal 66 = 42 hexidecimal

it is very important to specify what you are converting to and from in these situations. Both are correct answers if the question is unspecific.

No that browsers besides IE can accept hex valued IP in addtion to IP addresses and DNS names.

This could be intresting if applyed to a script. Can you mix it? say 199.33.02E32352E313134

I dont think that it can use hex values, i think it uses the decimal form of the 32 bit binary form of the addess
