Reuters exclusively reported European Union (EU) antitrust regulators will not appeal a court ruling scrapping its 997-million-euro fine against Qualcomm, in a major win for the U.S. chipmaker. It is rare for the European Commission not to appeal adverse judgments, but the EU competition watchdog feels that it would be very difficult to make its case in Europe’s top court. The judgment was a major setback for EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager, who has handed out billion-euro fines to Alphabet unit Google and opened investigations into other major tech companies as part of her crackdown on Big Tech.
