The Canadian government has presented a bill to make it easier for law enforcement officials and CSIS to listen to private cellphone conversations and Internet communication.

The Modernization of Investigative Techniques Act will expect Internet providers to provide the police your personal information, such as your phone number, address, and cellphone number. This would allow proper authorities to know the location of your computer.

According to Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan, Canada is behind other nations who already have this technology. If this bill is passed, a judge must approve the decision before a person is investigated with this technology.
