Two computer gamers, passing themselves off as the "THr34t Krew", have been jailed after their inventive methods of creating their own secure Internet chatroom started a "global cyber crime investigation".

Andrew Harvey and Jordan Bradley of Darlington both admitted to charges of conspiracy to cause unauthorized modification of computers with intent.

The virus, once connected to the Internet, allowed the THr34t Krew to control the computer, and send various commands, ranging from scanning for vunerabilities to starting "Distributed Denial of Service" attacks, to the inected machines.
