Following the decision to split the CEO and Chairman positions at the Walt Disney Co., embattled Chairman and CEO, Michael Eisner, has stepped down as the chairman of the board. He does, however, stay on as the CEO.

The decision was made at a shareholders meeting yesterday, where 43% of Disney's shareholders chose not to support Eisner, or his re-election onto the board of directors.

The lack of the chairman position does take away some of the control that Eisner had over the company, however it is not likely to silence his strongest critics, namely Roy E. Disney, who want him away from Disney altogether.
