Face transplants, which have been the material for sci-fi movies such as "Face/Off", will become a reality, says chief of plastic surgery, Dr. W.P. Andrew Lee, of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Lee says the idea of conducting successful face transplant surgery is a definite, but doesn't know when it will become a reality.

Face transplants would really be for people who become so disfigured that normal cosmetic surgery couldn't help the patient. There are also other medical and ethical reasons to consider in the procedure.
