A Swedish study indicates that 13% of 70 year old women are still having sex. A 1971 study reported that only 0.8 percent of 70 year old women were doing it. More 70 year old women live with a married partner or someone else than 30 years ago.

69% of 70 year old men in the study also said they were sexually active. In the 1970s, that percentage only reached 50%. The reason for men being more sexually active is because they often have younger partners, which has been the case for a while.

Nils Beckman, the researcher from Gothenburg University who wrote the study, says: "In the 60s, women sought psychiatric care if they still experienced sexual desire after the menopause. Today's attitude is different."
