Once again, 20-year-old Norwegian Jon Johansen is being tried on grounds his DeCSS program violated Norwegian law by allowing users to break copyright restrictions. The Motion Picture Association of America is behind this latest suit.

Johansen made the program when he was 15 and won in court the first time. Last January, prosecutors accused him of using the DVD program to pirate copies. His lawyer successfully argued that DeCSS was used only to view movies not distribute them.

Now Johansen is being tried on the grounds that breaking the copy-protection code was illegal. Marie Sunde, the state prosecutor, says "The core of this case is the use of DeCSS in connection with legally purchased films...not on pirated copies."
