A theory first proposed by Albert Einstein has provided the basis for a new electronic "key" that could spell the demise of computer hackers.
Physicists at the Australian National University have used bright lasers to prevent transmitted data from being hacked.
Their break through was based on work done by Einstein in 1935 who uncovered a phenomena known as entanglement .

I got it out of a newspaper so there wasnt a website for a source. Im not too sure how that will stop hackers but I think its got to do with "teleporting" data from one pc to another. Just thought someone here might be interested.

Entanglement seems like a very good way to secure data and other things in theory, but you would have to log the 2 or more states of the objects. In this case most likely electrons or photons. The implementation of this could be a weakness.

Say you have 2 electrons one is spining down, and the other is spining horizontaly left to right. You would have to log this some how inorder to unlock it for comparison later. Where ever this is loged would be my target as a hacker.

It is true the two states are un predictable, but you might not have to predict if you can find a refference. Also what is to stop brute force? In quatum computing there are 4 posible states for each bit. So for 2 states(2 bits) leave 16 possabilities. So for 128 bit encryption..

That leaves 268,435,456 possible combinations. I can see a brute force doing that in maybe an hour or 2.

That actually makes sense. Had you heard of this "entanglement" theory before?

The way I see it is that the computers communicate with each other that doesnt allow others to join in the "channel" because it can only communicate with the other channel and by the time something like brute force would have figured out the encryption the "channel" will be closed or changed. They say they are using photons (light) to transfer data. How does one hack light with out powerful/costly recievers.

And I think I just confuised myself.

Do not think of light at light. It is merly a transportation device for data. Same as copper. They will probably be using the photons the same way that electrons are used in quatum computing. In quantum computing instead of a burst of electric charge for a 1 and less for a 0 you turn a single electron into a 1, 0 or qubit1 or qubit2.
